Chamber Music Day
Open to DYO members and non-members alike the Chamber Music Day is designed for all orchestral players (string, wind and brass) with some experience in chamber music and as well as for those who are completely new to ensemble playing. Each year DYO tutors are joined by professional musicians and last year we were lucky to have Mia Cooper, Stephanie McCabe, John Lynch and Malachy Robinson joining our regular team.
During the day, each chamber group takes part in three sessions with their own individual tutor, learning key techniques in playing as a chamber group. Groups are formed and music is chosen according to age and ability. We also welcome musicians who have already formed their own chamber group.
An informal concert is given at the end of the day, during which each group will perform the music they have worked on throughout the day. The most outstanding groups are invited to perform in January on the day of our annual DYO concert in the NCH.
A percussion workshop also takes place in the afternoon for keyboard or guitar players (min grade 2) who would like to try percussion.
