Applications are open for the Annual Auditions – closing date is Monday 12th March.

Where: Santa Maria, Ballyroan Road, Tempelogue, Dublin 16

When: Sunday 25th March

Violinists should have a standard at least equivalent go a good grade 1/2 with very good sight reading ability when applying for the Junior Strings.

Junior Strings violinist may audition on violin for a Viola place but must satisfy the Dublin Youth Orchestras of their intention to take Viola lessons if they accept the place.

The following is a general guideline for applicants:

Age 9 – Grade 1 – 2

Age 11 – Grade 3 – 4

Age 13 – Grade 4 – 5

Age 16 – Grade 6+

1) String Players must be 9 years old by the 1st September 2018.

Wind and Brass players must be 11 years old by the 1st September 2018

Proof of age will be required on audition day.

2) Players must be in regular lessons on the instrument before audition and while playing in the Orchestra.

3) Due to the large numbers participating unfortunately no special arrangements can be made for individual candidates auditioning.

Unsuccessful candidates may re-apply and re-audition the following year.

4) Percussion players will be given a probationary place in the first instance.  They must show over a period of months that they are able to perform with competence with the Orchestra.

The decision of the DYO audition panel is final and canvassing will disqualify.

DYO are not in a position to supply details of any audition to any applicant.
